Thank you so much for your support!
As part of the special Faith, Family, & Football ticket, $5 of your ticket will go to support Virginia's Kids Belong and their initiative to create personal videos for children in foster care in the state of Virginia. More information regarding Virginia Kids Belong can be found at their website.
There is a tremendous need in Hampton Roads for more foster parents and for foster parents willing to adopt kids who are not able to return to their first families. At VKB, we believe every child deserves a safe and loving family. Did you know in Hampton Roads there are more than 368 kids in foster care? Over one-third of these children have a goal of adoption before they turn 18.
We believe in a family for every child. We help recruit foster and adoptive parents until there are more than enough families. Our I Belong Project (IBP) is a flagship program that creates videos of kids in care, eligible for adoption, to help them find forever homes. More than 50% of kids that have been part of the I Belong Project have been placed in forever families.
A typical IBP day would cost $20,000-25,000 and is made possible by generous community partners around the state. We average about 6 IBP days in a year in different regions of Virginia. During an I Belong Project, kids are partnered with an adult "buddy" and have fun with indoor and outdoor activities, receive "wish list" items and various other gifts, and are interviewed on video so that we can really capture who they are. At the same time, we invite social workers to come and we like to honor them with a special gift.
